Dallas Stars Rumors: Forward Becoming Primary Free-Agent Target

The Dallas Stars are expected to bring in a top-six forward this offseason. As a result, they reportedly have a primary free-agent target in Boston Bruins winger Tyler Bertuzzi.

The Bruins' limited cap space means that Bertuzzi's time in Boston is likely over. Overall, he proved to be an excellent rental for the Bruins, as he was one of the few players from the club who actually performed well during the playoffs (10 points in seven games). Although GM Don Sweeney would love to keep him around, it seems unlikely at this point. Thus, Dallas should be in the mix to land their preferred free-agent target.

Bertuzzi was on the Stars' radar leading up to the deadline, but a move did not come to fruition. Yet, they will now have the opportunity to pursue him in free agency if he officially hits the market. When noting that Bertuzzi is a star while playing at his best, there will be a lot of teams interested. We will need to wait and see if the Stars end up being the lucky club that lands him from here.
