Devils Coach Baffled By Team's Brutal Performance in Game 4

The New Jersey Devils were thumped on home ice in Game 4 6-1 by the Carolina Hurricanes. Devils head coach Lindy Ruff spoke after the game and made it very clear his team has him confused after that performance.

Ruff's completely baffled by the Devils lack of effort in a very meaningful Stanley Cup Playoff game and had this to say to the media after Game 4:

That's a hard one to explain. That's about as poorly we've skated and supported the puck in any game this year. We had guys that just went rogue. You can't call that lack of experience. Even the power play turned into one man trying to do something and the next guy trying to do something. There was no team effort. We weren't good. I look at the way we played after Game 7 and it resembled some of this. Are we having a tough time dealing with a little bit of success? Play a really good game, and then you bounce back with a game like that?. Playoffs are hard. We didn't make it to a high enough level to win a hockey game tonight

The Devils are a young team who continue to learn on the fly in their first playoff run together. Look for Ruff to prepare his hockey club to come out flying in Game 5 as the Hurricanes look to close things out.
