New York Rangers Rumors: Maple Leafs Coach on Team's Radar

The New York Rangers have begun their search for a new head coach and according to some early reports, the team has interest in Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post states Keefe would 'presumably become a person of interest in the Rangers' coaching search'. First things first, Keefe is under contract with the Maple Leafs and while they have their backs up against the wall in round two, he's yet to be let go by the hockey club.

Brooks had another rumor to share as he mentioned via Twitter, there was a scenario that was run by him stating that Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas ends up with the Pittsburgh Penguins, fires Mike Sullivan, replaces him with Keefe and then Sullivan ends up with the Rangers.

Lots to unpack I know, as it appears the Rangers coaching search is going to be highly entertaining. Joel Quenneville is another name that's been linked to New York, so we'll have to wait to see how things play out. It's likely a new bench boss won't be named until after the Stanley Cup Playoffs conclude.
