Los Angeles Kings Rumors: Defenseman Garnering Trade Interest

The Los Angeles Kings' season is over, and now they are preparing for what should be a busy offseason for them. Before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, the Kings made it known that they are ready to move one of their surplus of right-shot defensemen. As a result, several teams are expected to call Los Angeles about Matt Roy this offseason.

Roy is entering the final year of his contract and carries a $3.15 million cap hit. Teams looking for help on their right side would love to add him, as he has shown that he can play top-four minutes. In 82 games this season, the 28-year-old had nine goals to go along with 26 points and a plus-8 rating.

With the Kings having young right-shot defensemen like Brandt Clarke and Jordan Spence looking ready to make the jump to the NHL, do not be surprised if Roy is moved to help improve their roster elsewhere. Some teams to look out for in the Roy sweepstakes include the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, and Florida Panthers.
