New York Islanders Rumors: Forward Expected to be Moved

The New York Islanders have a surplus of centers and are expected to move one to help improve their roster elsewhere. As a result, there have been rumblings that Jean-Gabriel Pageau could be on the move this offseason.

Pageau had another solid season in 2022-23, as he had 13 goals to go along with 40 points in 70 games. That is good production from a third-line center, and there should be interest in him during the offseason because of it. With that, the 30-year-old is known for playing a sound two-way game, so he would be an option for both the power play and penalty kill for any team that wishes to acquire him.

Pageau would be far more than just a rental if acquired by another club, as he carries a $5 million cap hit until the completion of the 2025-26 season. With that, he comes with some trade protection, as he has a 16-team no-trade list.

We will need to wait and see if the Islanders end up moving the veteran forward from here.
