Nashville Predators Rumors: Forward Expected to be Shopped

The Nashville Predators started a notable retooling stage at the deadline, as they moved Mattias Ekholm, Mikael Granlund, Tanner Jeannot, and Nino Niederreiter. Had it not been for a season-ending injury, Ryan Johansen could have also been on the move, and he is expected to be shopped again this summer because of it.

After posting a 63-point campaign in 79 games in 2021-22, Johansen's production took a notable dip this campaign. In 55 games, the 30-year-old had just 12 goals and 28 points. That is low for his standards, and he is heading into next season with the expectation of bouncing back. Perhaps a change of scenery could be exactly what he needs to make that come to fruition.

The big dilemma with moving Johansen is that he carries a hefty $8 million cap hit. When noting that he has two years remaining on his deal and is coming off of a rough season, the Predators would need to retain a good chunk of salary in any move centering around him.

Alas, we will need to wait and see if Johansen gets moved this summer. When playing at his highest level, he is a solid second-liner, so there could be some interest in him.
