NHL Rumors: Tampa Bay Lightning Linked to Veteran Winger

After a first-round exit, the Tampa Bay Lightning are gearing up for what should be a busy offseason. As they look to strengthen their roster, they reportedly are looking at Max Pacioretty as a free-agent target if he hit the open market.

Pacioretty was limited to only five games this season due to tearing his Achilles for a second time. As a result, the star winger is likely going to be forced to sign a cheap contract this offseason – if he elects to return. With the Lightning having limited cap space, this could be an avenue that they explore.

When healthy, Pacioretty is a legitimate top-six forward, and the Lightning will need another one if pending UFA Alex Killorn elects to test the market. As a result, do not be surprised if the Lightning end up being the team who signs Pacioretty this offseason. Keep in mind, he is still looking for his first Stanley Cup ring as well.
