Ottawa Senators Rumors: Goalie Becoming Possible Target

According to Bruce Garrioch, the Ottawa Senators were interested in Joonas Korpisalo before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline passed, and he could be a free-agent target for the Senators this summer because of it.

Korpisalo is one of the top goalies set to hit the open market this offseason, and he will receive a lot of interest because of it. With the Senators desperately needing to improve in net, there could be a great match here. General manager Pierre Dorion has confirmed that veteran netminder Cam Talbot will not be back in Ottawa next season, and Korpisalo has the potential to be an upgrade over him.

Yet, after Korpisalo’s strong 2022-23 season, the Senators will have competition if the hope to sign him. Teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, and Detroit Red Wings are all teams that will be looking for goalie help this summer. The Kings also are likely going to try to re-sign.

Alas, we will need to wait and see if the Senators end up landing Korpisalo from here.
