Penguins Rumors: Kyle Dubas to be Named New GM

The Pittsburgh Penguins are wrapping up their recruitment process for the vacant general manager position and all signs are pointing towards Kyle Dubas being awarded the position.

Dubas had a horrible break up with the Toronto Maple Leafs and specifically president Brendan Shanahan and after taking some time to talk things over with his family, it does appear he's willing to put in the work for the Penguins.

Dubas met with the Penguins brass earlier this week which included Sidney Crosby. Word is these conversations were very positive and moving into a situation where a Stanley Cup is within reach is something that has apparently struck Dubas' interest.

The Penguins ownership group was not happy how Ron Hextall was conducting business and the cleaned house after the Pens missed the playoffs for the first time in nearly two decades. Now things appear to be gaining steam with Dubas where an announcement could be coming in the next three days.

The team's GM search reportedly started with 20 names and now it's done to one heavy favorite. Look for Dubas to have full autonomy to make moves as this was something that he did not have in Toronto and it was a serious road block for organizational change. Expect a different set up in Pittsburgh.
