St. Louis Blues Rumors: Forward Becoming Primary Free-Agent Target

The St. Louis Blues are gearing up for an eventful offseason. After missing the postseason, they are expected to be active in free agency as they aim to strengthen their group. Since trading Ryan O'Reilly at the deadline, they have had a notable hole down the middle, and they are looking at J.T. Compher as a free-agent target because of it.

Compher is coming off of the best season of his career with the Colorado Avalanche and is due for a nice raise through free agency this year because of it. In 82 games, the 28-year-old scored 17 goals and set new career highs with 35 assists and 52 points. Overall, he showed that he can be productive in a second-line center role, so it makes sense that the Blues are now considering the prospect of signing him.

Yet, with this year's free agency class being quite weak, Compher is going to generate interest from several clubs. We will need to wait and see if the Blues successfully sign him from here.
