3 Potential Trade Destinations for Flyers Scott Laughton

There's quite the buzz around Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton at the moment. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Laughton's name has come up quite a bit in trade requests these days as Flyers general manager Daniel Briere is open to moving just about anyone off his roster. Look for the trade chatter to continue through the draft and into free agency July 1. Here's a few teams who will likely be making trade offers to land Laughton:

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche will be very interested to acquire Laughton as they are desperate for some help up front. Gabriel Landeskog is out for next season and the Avs have some extra money to spend. Will they want to ship out one of their young defenseman? Likely Samuel Girard if any, and the Flyers will be interested after moving Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Laughton for Girard will have some legs and be something to watch.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs and Flyers have discussed this trade before, however with Brad Treliving now GM, the interest level may be slightly different. Laughton is very familiar to several of the Maple Leafs players and he'd easily transition to their team. If he ends up in Toronto, look for Nick Robertson to be heading the other way.

Edmonton Oilers

Laughton is exactly what the Oilers need for their third-line center and look for GM Ken Holland to be aggressive on the trade market this summer. Their first-round pick will be in play and if Briere can land one for Laughton, it would be considered a success. The 29-year-old Flyers forward posted 43 points in 78 games last season and is signed for $3 million per season through 2025-26. Laughton does not hold any trade protection and can be moved at will. There's certainly a chance he's getting moved this summer and if so, look for these three teams to be involved.
