Montreal Canadiens Rumors: 3 Teams Linked to Sean Monahan

Sean Monahan was well on his way to having a strong bounce-back season for the Montreal Canadiens in 2022-23, but his year would end up after just 25 games played due to multiple injuries. Yet, he also recorded 17 points in his limited action, so there should certainly be several teams interested in signing in him to a one-year, prove-it deal this summer. Let's discuss three specific clubs who are currently linked to the Brampton native.

Minnesota Wild: The Minnesota Wild are aiming to improve their center depth this offseason. However, due to the Zach Parise and Ryan Suter buyout penalties, they have limited cap space, so they will not be making any monstrous splashes. However, with Monahan expected to take a cheaper deal because of his injury trouble, he is understandably a prime free-agent target for the Wild.

Toronto Maple Leafs: The Toronto Maple Leafs are another team to pay attention to in the Monahan sweepstakes this offseason. They have several pending free-agent forwards like Ryan O'Reilly, Michael Bunting, Noel Acciari, and David Kampf. As a result, they will be looking for top-nine forwards this summer, and Monahan could be an excellent option for them because of it.

Colorado Avalanche: The Colorado Avalanche have long been linked to Sean Monahan, and it is continuing into the offseason. The Avalanche need help down the middle, as J.T. Compher and Lars Eller are both pending free agents this summer. As a result, expect the Avalanche to step up their efforts to get Monahan this offseason.
