New Jersey Devils: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason

The 2023-24 regular season is rapidly approaching, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.

In this latest edition of the series, let’s take a look at the New Jersey Devils.

Best Addition: Tyler Toffoli

The Devils made a huge addition to their forward group this offseason, landing Tyler Toffoli from the Calgary Flames. He will be a big part of their top six moving forward and is coming off the best season of his career. As a result, it’s hard not to like this move as a Devil fan.

Worst Subtraction: Damon Severson

The Devils had some notable subtractions, but Damon Severson is the most significant one. Although their right side is plenty strong enough without him, having him as their third-pairing defenseman was a luxury, as he is a legitimate top-four d-man.
