Islanders Rumors: Parise Bound To Sign With Team This Season

The New York Islanders have been surging as of late and shot up the standings right into second in their division. This has been a team effort with some very impressive seasons thus far from a few individuals. That being said, it appears as though the team is going to get some reinforcements in the form of Zach Parise in the near future.

On 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman noted that he doesn't know what it means for an NHL return, but Parise has been skating pretty hard in Minnesota. He assumes that when Parise is ready to go, he will sign with the Islanders again. His last two contracts after being bought out by the Wild have been one-year deals with the Islanders.

Parise has been very productive as an Islander. He played every game over the course of the two seasons and scored 36 goals and 69 points while being paid $1.5 million AAV and then league minimum ($750,000 AAV) in his second and most recent season. The Islanders have gotten some solid production from unexpected places as players like Julien Gauthier and Simon Holmstrom have contributed and been playing on the third line while Oliver Wahlstrom has been a scratch. If Parise returns, it is very likely with the Islanders as they look like a contender and over the course of the season, are going to need some scoring help if some of their depth and stars cool off.
