Ottawa Senators Likely To Trade Forward By New Year

The Ottawa Senators are reportedly gearing up for a potential trade involving Dominik Kubalik before January, which is when Shane Pinto is expected to return the lineup.

Kubalik, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in July, has drawn the attention of other teams, and the Senators are seriously considering moving him to secure assets before he hits free agency.

General Manager Steve Staios is actively working the phones to explore potential deals, even though it may not be a blockbuster trade on the horizon.

The decision to trade Kubalik could be a strategic move by the Senators as they assess their roster needs, especially with the challenges posed by the current trade market, where many teams face cap space constraints.

So far this season, the 28-year-old has scored four goals and five points across 19 games played.

This potential trade underscores the Senators' desire to maximize their return on Kubalik, given the uncertainty surrounding his future with the team beyond this season.

Over his five-year career, Kubalik has amassed 86 goals and 166 total points across 302 games played.

Whether this move materializes or not, it's clear that the Senators are actively exploring their options to ensure they don't lose Kubalik without receiving some assets in return. Photo Credit: Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports
