Rangers: 3 Top Trade Candidates Heading Into 2024

Christmas is over, and now the new year is less than one week away. Thus, over these next few days, we here at NHL Trade Rumors will discuss the three top trade candidates from each team heading into 2024.

In this latest edition of the series, the New York Rangers will be the club that is discussed. The Rangers are one of the top teams in the entire league, so they are gearing up for what should be an eventful trade deadline. Let's go over their three top trade candidates heading into the new year because of it now.

Zac Jones: Zac Jones is a player who the Rangers could give a new home before the deadline passes. He is the odd man out on their blue line, and they can't send him down to the AHL without placing him on waivers first. Because of this, they could do the young defenseman a solid and give him a chance at consistent NHL minutes elsewhere.

Matthew Robertson: Matthew Robertson is another young Rangers defenseman who could be dealt before the deadline passes. He has good upside as a potential NHL shutdown defenseman, but the Rangers' depth on the blue line has made it too hard for him to get any chances. Thus, he could be a prospect that they are open to moving this season.

Barclay Goodrow: The Rangers are going to need to clear up cap space if they hope to bring in star talent before the deadline. Because of this, Barclay Goodrow is a player who has picked up some steam as a possible trade candidate. Moving out his salary would be big for the Rangers if it meant bringing in a notable name afterward.
