Zadorov Agent Talks Potential Extension in Vancouver

The backdrop is a big matchup Saturday night for the newest Vancouver Canuck Nikita Zadorov, as he faces the team he skated for as recently as earlier this week, the Calgary Flames. But off the ice, the impending UFA is already looking at talking extension with the Canucks.

Zadorov's agent, Dan Milstein told Rick Dhaliwal on the Donnie and Dhali show that they're open to talking about a new deal.

Obviously we'll talk to the team if they make a phone call. They have my number. And I sure hope that at some point in time we'll sit down and exchange our thoughts and hopefully there's a deal.

The hulking defenseman comes to the Canucks on a $3.75M cap hit, and it remains to be seen if he can negotiate a similar value contract going forward. A lot will depend on the impact he provides on either the second or third pairing for Vancouver. The 28-year-old doesn't provide a lot of offense, but with his massive frame and physical presence, the 6'6", 248-pounder brings an imposing presence at the defensive end.

Zadorov was paired with fellow giant Tyler Myers (6'8") in the morning skate on Saturday. That duo would take up a lot of real estate in the Canucks' zone.

Vancouver acquired Zadorov for 3rd- and 5th-round draft picks from the Flames, while also picking up the entirety of his contract.
