Canadiens Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target David Savard

Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Savard has been getting a lot of attention in the rumor mill over the last few weeks. It is entirely understandable, as the Habs are in the middle of a rebuild but also have several young defensemen who are ready for bigger roles at the NHL level. Due to this, the expectation is that Savard will find a new home before the deadline passes. Here are three teams who are gearing up to target him now.

Dallas Stars: The Dallas Stars need help on the right side of their defensive group. Due to this, they are a team to watch in the Savard sweepstakes. He would improve their right side notably, and he would be a great fit on their penalty kill. He also would give them more physicality, which would come in handy during the playoffs.

Toronto Maple Leafs: The Toronto Maple Leafs and Habs may be big rivals, but with the Canadiens rebuilding, they could be open to moving Savard to the Maple Leafs for the right price. It is apparent that the Maple Leafs need a shutdown defenseman, specifically on the right side, so do not be shocked if they make a push for Savard this season.

Tampa Bay Lightning: We should not rule out the possibility of a Savard and Tampa Bay Lightning reunion, either. The Bolts have been looking for a shutdown right-shot defenseman, as their right side needs improvement. As a result, they would make sense as an ideal landing spot for Savard before the deadline passes.
