Red Wings Rumors: Forward Becoming Trade Candidate

The Detroit Red Wings have fallen in the standings, and now there is a real chance that they will end up being sellers at the trade deadline if they do not turn things back around. Patrick Kane has come up in the rumor mill recently because of it, but he is not the only Red Wings forward to watch. Another name who we could see shopped if the Red Wings keep dropping in the standings is Daniel Sprong.

Sprong has proven to be a solid addition to the Red Wings' roster this season. He has provided solid secondary scoring and has worked on the power play. However, when noting that he is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) with good trade value, the Red Wings may have no choice but to listen to offers for him if they fall out of the playoff race over the next few weeks.

Sprong has appeared in 39 games this season with the Red Wings, where he has 10 goals to go along with 26 points and a plus-4 rating. It has been an excellent season for the winger, so he could get the Red Wings a nice return if they elect to shop him.

Teams will be targeting Sprong over these next few weeks, but we will need to wait and see if the Red Wings decide to pull the trigger on a move centering around the skilled forward before the trade deadline passes from here.
