Canucks Rumors: Canadiens Center Becoming Trade Target

It has been an outstanding season for the Vancouver Canucks, and for the first time in a while, they will be buyers at the trade deadline. It is hard to find too many flaws with their current group, but there have been several reports that the Canucks are hoping to add a top-six center before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passes.

The Montreal Canadiens are rebuilding and in a different place than the Canucks, as they will be sellers. With Sean Monahan being a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA), he is expected to be moved, and he has several suitors already at this point of the season. Yet, with the Canucks officially looking for help down the middle, they are now a team to pay attention to when it comes to Monahan.

Monahan would be a big addition to the Canucks' roster, as he has been playing like he did during his best seasons with the Calgary Flames this campaign. In 46 games played, he has 11 goals to go along with 31 points. This is solid production, but especially when noting that the Habs do not have too many offensive weapons for him to work with. On a far better Canucks team, his numbers would have the chance to improve.

With Monahan having a great contract and in the middle of a very good season, there will be a lot of teams looking to add him over these next few weeks. The Canucks are likely to be one of them, and we will need to wait and see if they land him from here.
