Flames Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Join Elias Lindholm Sweepstakes

The Calgary Flames are gearing up to be big sellers at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. Elias Lindholm is one of their most notable trade candidates, as he is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) and extension talks between him and the Flames have come to an end. The Boston Bruins, Winnipeg Jets, Colorado Avalanche, Washington Capitals, and Carolina Hurricanes have all been connected to him in trade talk. Who else could join the sweepstakes? Let's discuss that now.

New York Rangers: The New York Rangers could be in a position to add another center to their group before the deadline. If Filip Chytil still does not make progress and remains out at the deadline, the Rangers would be smart to pursue Lindholm. He would give them excellent center depth for the postseason and also provide them with a strong penalty killer along with it.

Florida Panthers: The Florida Panthers are having an excellent season and are clear contenders heading into the playoffs. However, even with this being the case, they would be wise to add another top-six forward to their group before the deadline passes. Lindholm would give them another excellent two-way forward to work with and only strengthen their roster in the process.

Toronto Maple Leafs: The Toronto Maple Leafs could be a dark horse in the Lindholm sweepstakes. Lindholm would be an excellent option as their 3C, as it would allow them to move Max Domi back to the wing. If salary is retained, it could be an avenue worth exploring for the Maple Leafs.
