Insider: 6 Potential Trade Destinations for Jakob Chychrun

After spending years in Arizona and listening to trade rumors year in and year out, Jakob Chychrun felt the past was behind him. Turns out that's not the case at all as the Ottawa Senators are actively involved in trade talks to get a sense of how other teams value some of their core players. GM Steve Staios has been working the phones and several insiders have confirmed Chychrun's name is out there.

Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff recently wrote a piece on Chychrun's trade potential and listed out six teams he felt could be involved, some more than others of course. Larkin listed out the Detroit Red Wings, New York Islanders, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and New Jersey Devils. Additionally, the Spittin Chiclets 'rumor boys' have him going to the LA Kings and with their history of calling Corey Perry to Edmonton and Patrick Roy to Long Island, there could be some substance there to consider.

Chychrun is signed through next season at just $4.6 million and does not hold any trade protection. The Sens blueliner isn't happy with all the noise following him to Ottawa, but considering how much the team is underachieving, their GM has no choice but to get involved in trade talks to see how much he can upgrade the roster. Moving Chychrun would get a significant return to Ottawa and could give them a chance to either address their goaltending issues or land a top-six forward with term.

Chychrun has recorded 27 points in 43 games so far this season and is coming off a 33-point season in 48 combined games last year between the Sens and Coyotes. The wait and see game continues with Staios and the Sens as trade talks continue for their new GM.
