Kings' Drew Doughty Tees Off on Selfish Teammates

The Los Angeles Kings fell to the Buffalo Sabres 5-3 on Wednesday night and what happened after the game is causing quite the stir in California. Kings star defenseman Drew Doughty did not mince any words and absolutely blasted some of his teammates.

Doughty spoke to the media after the game and called out some of his selfish teammates for caring only about themselves and their point totals:

I think we got guys in this room who are too worried about themselves, and worried about their points, and worried about stuff like that. We get a 3-1 lead tonight, and guys start thinking it's a cookie night. We stopped playing the way we know how to play, have an awful second period, then aren't much better in the third. It's about the team, it's not about yourself, and a lot of guys on this team need to realize that.

The Kings have been free-falling down the standings in the Western Conference and now sit 22-14-9 record, good for the first wildcard spot, however are 2-5-3 in their last 10 games.

LA is back in action on Friday against the high-power Colorado Avalanche. There's been a lot of speculation brewing about the Kings looking for some goaltending depth, so perhaps GM Rob Blake takes into consideration who Doughty is calling out and involves them in trade talks. One surprising name to watch out for is Pierre-Luc Dubois. He's recorded just 10 goals and 20 points in 45 games, meanwhile is making $8.5 million against the cap.
