Red Wings Rumors: James Reimer Linked to Central Team

The Detroit Red Wings are a team to pay attention to in the trade market when it comes to goalies. This is because they have three NHL-caliber goalies in Alex Lyon, Ville Husso, and James Reimer. Reimer is the only goalie with an expiring contract, so many are viewing him as a possible trade target.

If the Red Wings officially shop Reimer, there should be interest in him, as he has an affordable cap hit and has been a solid goalie throughout his long career. One specific team who is expected to have him on their radar is the Colorado Avalanche.

The Avalanche have made it clear that they are aiming to add a backup goalie before the deadline passes, and it is easy to see why. Alexandar Georgiev has been played a lot this season, while backup options Ivan Provestov and Justus Annunen do not have much experience. Due to this, it may be worthwhile for the Avs to bring in a goalie like Reimer, as he would be an upgrade to their current situation.

Reimer should garner interest from teams looking to add goalies at the deadline, and this is especially so when we start to see the bigger names moved. We will need to wait and see if the Red Wings decide to move him from here, but until then, the Avs are a team to watch very closely.
