Vegas Golden Knights Place Star Player On IR

According to Jesse Granger of The Athletic, the Vegas Golden Knights have placed star center Jack Eichel on injured reserve (IR).

Eichel has not played for the Golden Knights since their contest on Jan. 11 against the Boston Bruins. His specific injury has not been revealed by the team, but with this IR placement, it ensures that he will not be eligible to return to the Golden Knights' lineup until at least their Jan. 20 contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. With Eichel being their best player, this is certainly far from ideal news.

Eichel is once again having an excellent season for the Golden Knights, and the truth can be seen with his stats for the campaign. In 42 games during this campaign, he has 19 goals to go along with 44 points and a plus-1 rating.

The Golden Knights have had some struggles as of late, and losing their top center for more time will not help their chances of heating back up. However, they will now need to adjust without Eichel in the lineup and try to replace his elite scoring.

We will now need to wait and see how much time Eichel misses and how the Golden Knights perform without him in the lineup.
