Wild Rumors: Pat Maroon Connected to Former Team

The Minnesota Wild have performed far below expectations during the 2023-24 season, and now, there is a very good chance that they will be sellers because of this. One forward who has been picking up a lot of steam in the trade rumor mill is Pat Maroon because of it. Now, there's a new team to watch in the sweepstakes in the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning are in a position to add to their bottom six, and bringing back Maroon would be a great move for them because of it. He was a big part of their depth during their Stanley Cup runs, and they have missed his secondary scoring and physicality this season. Because of this, it would not be shocking if they looked to bring him back at the deadline, especially if the Wild retain a portion of his salary.

Maroon will have several suitors, as he is a three-time Stanley Cup champion who plays with bite and is a good leader. Some teams worth watching in the sweepstakes include the Lightning, Edmonton Oilers, Washington Capitals, and Los Angeles Kings.

We will now need to wait and see if the Lightning bring back Maroon before the trade deadline passes. It worked the first time in Tampa Bay for him, so it could be a reunion worth pursuing because of it.
