Ducks Rumors: 3 Teams Involved in Trade Talks for John Gibson

The Anaheim Ducks are open to a realm of possibilities ahead of the March 8 trade deadline which includes having goaltender John Gibson on the trade market. There's been talks throughout the season regarding Gibson, who has even reportedly expressed some desire for a fresh start.

Ducks GM Pat Verbeek has already made one bold trade this season and there's certainly a chance Gibson is one of the few Ducks Verbeek decides to move. There's also been talks around Adam Henrique, Frank Vatrano and Ilya Lyubushkin.

As for Gibson, the New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabres have been involved, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period. The 'Canes and Devils are in the playoff race despite not having consistent goaltending throughout the season, meanwhile the Sabres are looking to find some stability in net, even though of late, the likes of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has been performing well while the team awaits Devon Levi to take over.

The Ducks are rebuilding, their open to re-tooling and they have several trade pieces in play ahead of the deadline, so they should certainly be circled as a team to watch. The Devils or 'Canes landing Gibson, and having him return to form could be a scary scene in the Eastern Conference. Gibson is signed through the 2026-27 season at $6.4 million and owns a modified 10-team no-trade clause.

So far this season, Gibson has registered a 11-19-1 record, along with a 2.98 GAA and .903 Sv.%. Reasonable numbers considering the Ducks struggles defensively. Where do you think Gibson winds up? New Jersey? Carolina? Buffalo? Or, stays put?
