Blackhawks Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be looking at the Chicago Blackhawks.

Lukas Reichel: Lukas Reichel is an obvious extension candidate for the Blackhawks. The 2020 first-round pick has immense potential, and the rebuilding Blackhawks are surely going to keep him around. However, due to his struggles at the NHL level this season, a bridge deal is more likely than a long-term one.

Tyler Johnson: Tyler Johnson is a veteran forward who the Blackhawks could consider signing to a short-term extension. He is having a solid season for them this year and could be good to bring back due to his high amount of experience.

Taylor Raddysh: Taylor Raddysh is a pending RFA who the Blackhawks are likely to keep around beyond this season. While he has had a bit of a down year in 2023-24, he posted 20 goals just last season. Thus, it would not be surprising if the Blackhawks gave him another chance and signed him to a short-term deal.
