Blue Jackets Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be taking a look at the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Yegor Chinakhov: Yegor Chinakhov has taken a big step forward for the Blue Jackets this season, posting new career highs with 16 goals and 29 points in 53 games thus far. He has emerged as a key forward in the Blue Jackets' lineup, and the pending RFA will surely be getting a new contract from the team because of it.

Cole Sillinger: Cole Sillinger is in the final season of his entry-level contract and will be getting a new contract this offseason because of it. The former first-round pick has plenty of potential and the tools to become an impactful forward at the NHL level. Thus, a new deal will be coming his way in the near future.

Alex Nylander: Since being traded to the Blue Jackets, former top prospect Alex Nylander has been on fire. In 15 games with the club, he has eight goals and 11 points. As a result, the Blue Jackets would be wise to keep the pending RFA around beyond this season.
