In the upcoming offseason, the Montreal Canadiens are expected to make a modest splash in the free-agent market as they bolster their roster for the future, according to Josh Wegman.

With a keen eye on enhancing their forward depth without compromising their long-term plans, the Canadiens are targeting younger unrestricted free agents with ample room for growth.

Among the notable names on their radar are Jake DeBrusk, Warren Foegele, and Daniel Sprong, each offering a unique blend of skill and potential to complement Montreal's roster dynamics.

Jake DeBrusk brings occasional streaks of offensive brilliance and a gritty playing style that aligns well with Montreal's identity.

After a career-best season last year, DeBrusk has taken a step back this season, scoring 18 goals and 21 assists for 39 total points across 70 games played.

At 27 years old, he presents a promising option with his goal-scoring prowess. Warren Foegele, known for his relentless work ethic and defensive responsibility, offers stability on both ends of the ice, fortifying the team's forward depth.

Foegele is in the midst of the best season of his seven-year NHL career, amassing 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 total points over 69 games played this year.

Meanwhile, Daniel Sprong, despite his limited role in previous seasons, represents a low-risk, high-reward opportunity with intriguing offensive upside, making him an enticing addition to the Canadiens' arsenal.

Sprong is also having a very nice season, putting up 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 total points across 68 games played, on track for the best year of his eight-year NHL career.
