Capitals Rumors: Max Pacioretty Connected to Contender

The Washington Capitals got their selling started last night (March 5) when they traded Anthony Mantha to the Vegas Golden Knights. This is only expected to be the beginning, however, as the Capitals have several players who are in the rumor mill.

One of their most notable trade candidates is veteran forward Max Pacioretty. With the Capitals' officially committing to being sellers, there is a general expectation that they will move the pending unrestricted free agent (UFA). In a recent article for The Athletic, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun brought up the Florida Panthers as a possible landing spot for the winger.

It is not a secret that the Panthers have been looking to add forwards to their roster. Their middle six could use a bit of a boost, and Pacioretty would have the potential to provide them with just that. Along with that, he would also give them another skilled player for their power play if acquired.

What also makes Pacioretty a very appealing trade target to a team like the Panthers is that he also has a plethora of overall experience and is known for being a good leader. That is something that could truly help the Panthers right now.

We will need to wait and see if the Panthers end up landing Pacioretty before the deadline passes from here.
