Columbus Blue Jackets' Top 3 Trade Candidates At 2024 Deadline

The Columbus Blue Jackets are at the bottom of the standings in the East and near the very bottom in the entire league once again. This will see them sell what they can this season, whether that be rentals or players with term. Some changes need to be done and this team is likely to move some pieces ahead of the deadline this season.

Adam Boqvist

The back-end for the Blue Jackets has been packed this season and there doesn't appear to be a place for Adam Boqvist in the very near future. David Jiricek, the up-and-coming future on defense, isn't happy with not being in the NHL and has more than earned a spot in the NHL. He's a right-shot defenseman, and along with Damon Severson (signed for seven more years) and Erik Gudbranson, there just isn't room to deploy Boqvist. The team will be able to get something solid back for him, so it makes sense to move on while he still has value.

Jack Roslovic

Jack Roslovic has been much better than anticipated for the Blue Jackets since being acquired a few seasons ago. His production has been solid and has served in a middle-six role well. His goals have dropped off this season and as there are a number of younger players pushing for spots in the lineup and on the team, Roslovic's time has come in Columbus. Since he can play center and there aren't very many available this season at the deadline, his value could be a little higher than expected.

Ivan Provorov

There have been rumors surrounding Ivan Provorov as of late even though he has another year left on his deal. His contract is already partly retained by the Philadelphia Flyers, so a team interested could get a top-four defenseman for a very low cap hit. Provorov is a good two-way defender and it would clear more space on the back-end for the Blue Jackets.
