Kings Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Los Angeles Kings.

Cam Talbot: Cam Talbot has had a strong season with the Kings, and they would be wise to try to keep him around beyond this season because of it. His steady play in 2023-24 led to him being named to the All-Star Game this year, and he has performed well down the stretch. Thus, don't be surprised if they look to get him signed to another deal.

Quinton Byfield: Quinton Byfield is in the final season of his ELC, and he is set to get a raise this offseason because of it. The skilled center is in the middle of a breakout season, posting 19 goals and 51 points in 68 games. As a result, the Kings could look to get him signed long-term on his next contract.

Viktor Arvidsson has missed the majority of this season due to injury. However, since returning, he has done well, posting one goal and four points in six games. He has shown throughout out his time with the Kings that he is a solid top-six forward to have, so don't be surprised if they try to get him signed beyond this season.
