Panthers Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest installment of the series, the Florida Panthers will be the team of discussion.

Sam Reinhart: Sam Reinhart recently became just the second player in Panthers history to score 50 goals in a season. It just so has happened in the middle of a contract year, and he is set to get a big payday because of it. The Cats have made it known that they want to keep him around in Florida, so he is, without a doubt, their top extension candidate.

Brandon Montour: Brandon Montour is another notable Panthers pending UFA who could hit the market this offseason. While he had a slow start to the season due to injury, he has regained his form down the stretch. Given how important of a piece he is to their blue line, look for the Panthers to try to keep him around.

Ryan Lomberg: Ryan Lomberg is a pending UFA who the Panthers could look to keep around beyond this season. His tenacity and grit has made him become a massive part of the Panthers' bottom six. Due to this, they could surely try to get him signed to an extension before he hits the market.
