Lightning Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Steven Stamkos: The Lightning are not expected to resume contract talks with Steven Stamkos until after the season. However, once this season is over, the Lightning certainly could sign Stamkos to a new deal. He is one of the most important figures in their franchise history, and he is not showing any signs of slowing down. Thus, getting him locked up should be a priority.

Anthony Duclair: Anthony Duclair is an extension candidate from the Lightning. The skilled winger has been nothing but excellent since joining the Bolts, and it could lead to them looking to keep him around beyond this season. He has given their top six a nice boost.

Matt Dumba: Matt Dumba has also looked solid since joining the Lightning, so he is another player who they could try to extend. He has helped their right side and has given them more physicality, which has been a nice plus.
