Oilers Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Edmonton Oilers.

Adam Henrique: There have been several reports that the Oilers are looking to sign Adam Henrique to an extension. The veteran forward would certainly be good to keep around, as he provides solid secondary scoring and plenty of leadership due to his experience. Thus, getting their big trade deadline acquisition extended would be wise.

Sam Carrick: The Oilers have also been looking to keep Sam Carrick around with an extension. The gritty bottom-six forward has provided plenty of bite since arriving to the Oilers, so it makes sense that they are open to re-signing him. At a cheap cap hit, he certainly would make sense to sign to a contract extension.

Warren Foegele: While Warren Foegele picked up some buzz as a potential trade candidate at the deadline, the Oilers opted to hold onto him at the deadline. The 27-year-old winger has had a career season with the Oilers, and they could consider keeping him around beyond this season because of it.
