Red Wings Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, the team of focus will be the Detroit Red Wings.

Patrick Kane: Patrick Kane has had an excellent bounce-back season with the Red Wings. He is once again playing like a star, and it is quite obvious that the Red Wings will be trying to get him signed to a contract extension. It would be immensely difficult for them to replace him in their top six.

David Perron: There have been rumblings that the Red Wings want to sign David Perron to an extension. It is entirely understandable, as the veteran winger is still quite impactful and also is a key leader on their roster. Due to this, it really should be a no-brainer for them to bring him back.

Daniel Sprong: Daniel Sprong has been a nice fit in the Red Wings' lineup. He has provided them with quality scoring and has worked beautifully in their top nine. Due to this, the journeyman is a player who the Red Wings could try to get inked to a contract extension. If not, he should get a nice payday on the free-agent market.
