Rangers Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the New York Rangers.

Kaapo Kakko: The Rangers opted to hold on to Kaapo Kakko at the deadline. When noting that he is a pending RFA, he will certainly be getting a new contract in the near future. The youngster has promise but will likely settle for a bridge deal because of his tough 2023-24 campaign.

Ryan Lindgren: Ryan Lindgren is due for his next contract, and he is set to get a pretty significant raise. He has emerged as a vital part of the Rangers' blue line because of his immensely steady defensive play and overall physicality. Thus, it would not be surprising if he gets a new deal before the season is over, even with his pending RFA status.

Braden Schneider: Braden Schneider is in the final season of his entry-level contract and will be getting a raise this offseason because of it. The former first-round pick is having a solid season and is becoming an important part of the Rangers' roster.
