Red Wings Recall Simon Edvinsson

The Detroit Red Wings have made a notable roster move, as they have called up defenseman Simon Edvinsson from the Grand Rapid Griffins.
The Red Wings have been struggling immensely as of late, winning just two out of their last 10 games. Because of this, they currently do not hold a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference and need to turn things around immediately. Thus, they are now making this change and giving their top prospect a look in the NHL.

Edvinsson, 21, appeared in two games for the Red Wings back in late December, where he had one assist and an even plus/minus rating. While down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Griffins this campaign, he has eight goals, 29 points, 51 penalty minutes, and a plus-5 rating.

This will be a great chance for Edvinsson to try to show the Red Wings that he is ready to play in the NHL. When noting that they are in a critical point of the season and struggling significantly, the hope is that a top prospect like Edvinsson can help them turn things around.

In 11 career NHL games, Edvinsson has two goals to go along with an assist.
