Sidney Crosby Confused by Jake Guentzel Trade
The Pittsburgh Penguins are a mess and things just got even more confusing in their dressing room. Just hours after Jake Guentzel was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, along with Ty Smith, for a package that included Michael Bunting and several prospects, it's seemed to have left a sour taste in the mouth of some Penguins.
Including Sidney Crosby. The Pens captain and long-time teammate of Guentzel was very candid after his team got blown out by the Washington Capitals and Crosby admitted, he's got no idea what's going on:
He's a great player, great teammate, a friend. I think he did everything he possibly could in his time here. Just a privilege to play with him for the course of that time. Some great memories. That's all I can say. I don't know. That's probably a better question for them. I think the trade deadline time is always tough, but I think, given the circumstances, yeah I'd say it's a little heavier.
The Penguins are now eight points out of a playoff spot and with 21 games left in the regular season, have a huge mountain to climb if they want to get into the playoff picture. Is Michael Bunting going to save the Penguins season?
At this point it doesn't appear so, but stranger things have happened. It's just tough to watch a scene in Pittsburgh that appears to be getting out of hand, and they're not even finished one full season under Kyle Dubas.
