Wild Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, the Minnesota Wild will be the team of discussion.

Marc-Andre Fleury: Marc-Andre Fleury is the most notable pending UFA on the Wild's roster. Speculation about his playing future has naturally come up, but if he makes it clear that he wants to play another season, the Wild could certainly look to keep him around at a cheap price.

Adam Beckman: Adam Beckman is a pending RFA who the Wild are very likely going to keep around beyond this season. The 22-year-old may not be a full-time NHL player yet, but he has the potential to become one in the near future. Thus, the Wild are more than likely going to get the 2019 third-round pick signed to a new contract.

Declan Chisholm: The Wild claimed Declan Chisholm off of waivers from the Winnipeg Jets earlier this season, and he has been solid for them since. When noting that he is only 24 years old, the Wild will likely look to get him signed to a new deal instead of letting the pending RFA walk into free agency.
