Buffalo Sabres' 3 Best Contracts of 2023-24

The Buffalo Sabres are a young team that has taken a step back this season from the level they were at last season. The team has been better in the second half, but it seems as though it is too late. There are a lot of players on pretty good deals and a number of others still on rookie contracts. This is a good season to learn from and with the solid contracts throughout the lineup, the Sabres should be much better soon. Let's take a look at three of the best contracts on the team this season.

Alex Tuch

Alex Tuch was happy to come to Buffalo and had a very good season in 2022-23 on the top line. While things haven't gone according to plan as all three members of that former top line aren't point-per-game players in 2023-24, Tuch is still on a great contract. His cap hit is $4.75 million AAV for two more years and not only does he have 19 goals and 51 points in 68 games, he plays a lot for a forward and adds other elements all over the ice.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen came out of nowhere this season and has been very good for the Sabres. He's had to step up and he has as Devon Levi struggled adjusting to the NHL and Eric Comrie has not had a good season at all. Luukkonen is the starter in Buffalo, even now with Levi back in the NHL. He has 24 wins, a .910 SV%, and five shutouts for a goalie making just $837,500 this season. While he is a RFA after the season, his contract is amazing for the Sabres this season.

Rasmus Dahlin

Rasmus Dahlin already signed a contract extension, but his bridge deal was very good value for the Sabres for the past three years. Not only is Dahlin one of the best defensemen offensively in the league, he is dominant all over the ice and a true number one defenseman. At $6 million AAV, the 23-year-old has 17 goals and 53 points in 74 games on a team that has generally struggled offensively this season compared to last.
