Calgary Flames' 3 Best Contracts of 2023-24

The Calgary Flames had a major personnel shuffle this season and moved on from some players on good contracts even though those contracts were ending. The Flames have still hung around for most of the season despite retooling  and losing many key pieces due to some unexpected players having strong seasons. Some of them happen to be on great contracts as well.

Yegor Sharangovich

Not many expected Yegor Sharangovich to make the impact he has in his first season with the Flames, but the 25-year-old is second on the team in goals (28) and second on the team in points (53) to this point in the season while having a cap hit of $3.1 million AAV. This contract extends through next season as well and it should only get better as he's given an even larger role for the entire season.

Blake Coleman

Blake Coleman has been one of the bright spots on the team this season, really showing what he can provide offensively on top of his strong two-way game he already possessed. The 32-year-old has already set career highs by a mile with 29 goals and 52 points and has earned his place on the top line. While it will be tough for him to replicate the success he's had this season, the Flames have gotten every penny out of him as his cap hit is $4.9 million AAV and he's under contract for three more years.

Martin Pospisil

It's not very often you see someone making league minimum step up and make a sizeable impact. Martin Pospisil isn't a game-changer, but he has been good and surprising for the Flames this season, scoring eight goals and 18 points in 54 games. What makes his contract one of the best on the team is that he has played a good amount in the top-six because he has earned it. Because of his offense, he won't ever get a big payday, but he has been valuable for Calgary this season for sure.
