Dallas Stars' 3 Best Contracts of 2023-24

The Dallas Stars are a very strong team and are very deep thanks to some players on great deals this season. This team has arguably a couple of the best contracts in the league, so let's look at their top three this season.

Matt Duchene

Matt Duchene had a great 2021-22 season, but then the entire Nashville Predators, including him, had a tough season. This led to a buyout and he joined the Dallas Stars on a one-year, $3 million AAV deal that he has outplayed by a mile. Duchene has fit in perfectly on Dallas and has 24 goals and 62 points in 73 games while centering the second line. Him on this contract could be a big reason why the Stars win the Stanley Cup if they do.

Joe Pavelski

Joe Pavelski has had a similar impact and the soon-to-be 40-year-old is still playing very well on the top line of the Stars. While speed wasn't his style of game and intelligence was, he has managed to keep up just fine at his age, leading to 26 goals and 63 points in 75 games. He is in the final year of his deal at $3.5 million AAV and plays nearly 17 minutes per game still. If he continues to play, I don't think the contract is going to get any worse for the Stars.

Chris Tanev

Christ Tanev has a cap hit of $4.5 million AAV until the end of the season, but with how the Stars brought the defensive defenseman in, he only has a cap hit of $1.125 million AAV, which is great. He is a top-four defender and is fitting in with the team ahead of playoffs. He should continue to play a big role for Dallas if he can stay healthy as he has.
