Hurricanes Rumors: 3 Free Agents to Target This Summer

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' 2024 Free-Agent Targets series. During it, we will be discussing three pending unrestricted free agents that each team should aim to sign.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be looking at the Carolina Hurricanes.

Chris Tanev: If the Hurricanes lose Brett Pesce, they will need to add a defensively reliable right-shot defenseman to their group. One player who would stand out as a prime free agent target for them in this scenario is Chris Tanev. He can top four minutes still at this point of his career and is an excellent penalty killer.

Anthony Mantha: Bringing in a scoring winger with size should be an objective for the Canes this offseason. Because of this, it could make sense for them to add Anthony Mantha if he becomes available. He has had a nice bounce-back year and could thrive on a deep team like the Canes.

Yakov Trenin: The Hurricanes also could look to add to their bottom six this offseason. They have a handful of pending UFA forwards and could be in for some changes because of it. Thus, one player who they should look at is Yakov Trenin. He not only plays a heavy game but chips in well offensively, too.
