Hurricanes Rumors: Pacific Team Likely to Target Brett Pesce

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce is one of the most notable blueliners who could hit the market on July 1. The Hurricanes are likely to try to re-sign the right-shot defenseman, but if they can't get a new deal done for him, interest in his services will be incredibly high.

If Pesce hits the market, one specific club that is very likely to target him is the Edmonton Oilers.

It is not a secret that the Oilers could use some help on the right side of their defensive group. Bringing in a player like Pesce would give them a notable boost to their top four. This is because he plays a steady defensive game and is simply difficult to go up against. As a result, he is exactly the kind of defender the Oilers could use.

During the 2023 NHL Offseason, the Oilers were one of the many teams who expressed interest in Pesce. While a trade did not come to fruition, the Oilers will have the opportunity to try to bring him to Edmonton if he ends up reaching free agency.

We will now need to wait and see what happens with Pesce from here. The Canes would be wise to bring him back, but time will tell if that does in fact come to fruition.
