Red Wings' Patrick Kane Ready to Test Free-Agent Waters Again

Patrick Kane has already chosen the Detroit Red Wings once, they'll have to wait until free agency begins to see if there's a sequel. During the Red Wings end of season presser, after barely missing out on the playoffs, Kane admitted he's going to keep his options open and let his agent do all the work, which will include having conversations with Wings GM Steve Yzerman.

Kane was great in Motown, signing a one-year deal back in November for $2.75 million and went on to record 47 points in 50 games. From all accounts he plans on making a decision much earlier this upcoming offseason, which will not include any surgeries.

Kane was beloved by his teammates, including Alex DeBrincat who was a big player in recruiting Kane to the Wings in the first place. Lucas Raymond was also a big fan of having Kane around and had this to say about playing with the future hall-of-famer.

Dylan Larkin also received a ton of praise during Kane's presser, as he stated when the Red Wings captain went down earlier in the season, it was the biggest reason that led to their seven-game losing streak, which essentially took them too far out of the race.

It's been all love for Kane in Motown, we'll have to wait and see if that's still the case once free agency opens and a number of teams are looking at the veteran winger for some secondary scoring. Kane could be the perfect big-name forward the new team is Utah is looking for.
