Devils Re-Sign Kurtis MacDermid to 3-Year Deal

The New Jersey Devils have made a notable move, as they have signed Kurtis MacDermid to a three-year, $3.45 million contract extension. He will carry a $1.15 million cap hit starting next season.
MacDermid, 30, was acquired by the Devils from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Zakhar Bardakov's signing rights and a seventh-round pick before the deadline passed. Now, a little over two months later, MacDemid has earned himself a nice three-year pact.

MacDermid was brought in to provide the Devils with more toughness, and he successfully did that. Now, he will continue to be the club's top enforcer as they look to bounce back from what was a disappointing 2023-24 campaign.

MacDermid will be a nice depth piece for the Devils to have, as he is both a winger and a defenseman. As a result, he will come in handy when the Devils need to make adjustments to their lineup or are dealing with injury trouble.

In 45 games this season split between the Avalanche and Devils, MacDermid had two goals, one assist, 73 penalty minutes, and 83 hits.
