Jets Rumors: Latest on Brenden Dillon's Future in Winnipeg

The Winnipeg Jets have several notable pending unrestricted free agents whom they must make decisions about this offseason. It appears that they already know their plans with one of them.

According to the Winnipeg Sun’s Scott Billeck, the Jets are not expected to re-sign defenseman Brenden Dillon this offseason.

Billeck reported that the Jets did not have contract extension talks with Dillon during the regular season. Meanwhile, Dillon has also not talked to Jets management since their first round loss to the Colorado Avalanche earlier this postseason.

With Dillon expected to hit the free agent market, there should be plenty of interest in him. The veteran defenseman has plenty of experience, plays an incredibly heavy game, and is steady defensively. Defensemen like that are always hot commodities in free agency.

Dillon, 33, appeared in 77 games this season with the Jets, posting eight goals, 20 points, 241 hits, and 92 penalty minutes. He also had three assists and a plus-1 rating in three playoff games for the Jets this year.
