'Top 50 Free Agents' List for 2024 Debuts, With 50-Goal Star at No. 1

A number of big-name players head up the list of unrestricted free agents for the summer of 2024, but as Daily Faceoff drops its debut Top 50 list, we find it headed up, courtesy of a massive breakout season, by the Florida Panthers' Sam Reinhart.

After averaging 32 goals over the previous two seasons (certainly nothing to sneeze at), Reinhart had the ultimate contract year, racking up a career-high 57 goals and 94 points on an incredible NHL-best 24.5% shooting percentage.

Reinhart wants to remain a Panther, though there is no word of late on how extension talks are going.

Here's a look at the Top 10 UFAs on the Daily Faceoff list:

  1. Sam Reinhart, RW
  2. Jake Guentzel, LW
  3. Steven Stamkos, C/LW
  4. Patrick Kane, RW
  5. Joe Pavelski, RW
  6. Brady Skjei, D
  7. Jonathan Marchessault, RW
  8. Elias Lindholm, C/RW
  9. Brandon Montour, D
  10. Matt Duchene, C/RW

The Panthers also have defenseman Montour in the Top 10, while the Carolina Hurricanes and Dallas Stars are other teams that have their work cut out as well, each with two star players in the Top 10 —Guentzel and Skjei for the Canes, and Pavelski and Duchene for the Stars.

No doubt that a few of these players could return to their current teams, but one very interesting name to follow will be Guentzel, who, according to some rumors, might even return to the Pittsburgh Penguins, who traded him to Carolina at the deadline.

Adding to the Hurricanes' concerns are two other very notable UFAs for them to deal with, in Brett Pesce and Teuvo Teravainen. They both made it into the Top 15 of the Daily Faceoff list.

Overall, the Vancouver Canucks and the Canes have the most UFAs on the Top 50 list, with six each.
